How to Create and Assign Signage Players to Signage Screens and Customer Facing Displays (CFD)

Requirements

To create a signage player, the account must have an active signage subscription. You can verify this by navigating to Settings > Organisation > License Subscriptions in the Flipdish Portal

Signage players are created at the organisation level and can be shared across brands and locations. They can be created by users with the following roles:

  • System Admin

  • Support Admin

  • Support

  • Owner

  • Managed Owner

  • Store Owner

  • Store Manager

Once created, signage players can be assigned to Point of Sale (POS) stations and Signage Stations.

Creating a signage player.

  1. Select the organisation where you want to create a signage player.

  2. From the left-side navigation menu, expand Add-ons and select Signage.

  3. The signage listing page will appear. Click the New Signage Player button at the top right.

In the General tab:

  • Set a name for the player.

  • Add notes if necessary.

In the Slides tab, you can design slides for your signage player using the following options:

  • Image Slide

  • Video Slide

  • Active Orders

  • Weather Slide

Let's see how we can configure each of them.

Image Slide:

  1. Click Image Slide from the right pane and select Edit.

  2. Set a name for the slide.

  3. Choose the timing (how long the slide remains visible).

  4. Select the visibility option:

  • Always – Always display this slide.

  • Visible With Active Orders – Show only when there is an active order.

  • Visible With No Active Orders – Show only when there is no active order.

  • Hidden – Do not display this slide.

5. Switch to the Image tab and click on upload button to upload an image.

Video Slide:

  1. Click Video Slide from the right pane and select Edit.

  2. Set the name, timing, and visibility options.

  3. Enter the video URL.

  4. Switch to the Video tab to preview the video.

Active Orders Slide:

  1. Click Active Orders from the right pane and select Edit.

  2. Add a title.

  3. Select background and foreground colors.

  4. Choose the brand, venue, and dispatch type for the orders displayed.

  5. Select another signage player as a fallback option when there are no active orders.

Weather Slide:

  1. Click Weather Slide from the right pane and select Edit.

  2. Set the name, timing, and visibility.

  3. Enter the weather city code for accurate weather updates.

  4. Optionally, set the height and width of the weather slide.

Assigning signage player to signage station / CFD

Once the signage player is created, it can be assigned to Signage stations and Point of Sale (POS) stations.

Assigning to a Signage Station

  1. From the left navigation pane, go to Properties and select a property.

  2. Switch to the Devices tab and click on KDS, POS, and Other.

  3. On the stations listing page, either create a new signage station or select an existing one.

  4. Go to Settings.

  5. From the Choose Signage Player dropdown, select the signage player.

  6. Click Save.

Assigning to a Customer Facing Display (CFD)

  1. From the left navigation pane, go to Properties and select a property.

  2. Switch to the Devices tab and click on KDS, POS, and Other.

  3. On the stations listing page, select the POS station where you want to run signage slides on its CFD.

  4. Go to Settings.

  5. From the Signage Player dropdown, select the signage player.

  6. Click Save.

Outcome

Once assigned, the signage stations and Customer Facing Displays (CFD) of POS devices will start displaying their assigned signage slides.

Important: Restart the application on these devices to apply the changes made in the Flipdish Portal.
