Edit KDS Station Settings

Updated over 9 months ago

This article will explain how to edit Kitchen Display System (KDS) screen station's settings from within the device itself without having to access the Flipdish POS Back Office. You will be able to select which printers are connected to each station and adjust the screen configuration. Additionally, you can hide customer details, used deals, and other irrelevant information from the kitchen staff, ensuring they only see the information necessary for their tasks. The colour scheme can also be changed to enhance clarity.

Furthermore, you can set up different kitchen station profiles, such as Cook, Drinks, Fry, and Packing stations. The packing station is designated as the final step in the process, where orders are packed up for collection or delivery. Moreover, you can choose the default station for the current screen, particularly when multiple stations are available, with the default currently set to Cook.

Requirements: Please note you will need admin-level access to manage these settings

Instructions:

Step 1 - Log into the KDS using the same pin code you use to access the Point of Sale device

Step 2 - Click the settings icon in the top right of the page. It is usually represented by a gear or cogwheel icon.

Step 5 - Within the station settings, you will find options to customize the printers connected to each station and adjust the screen configuration.

Step 6 - To assign printers to specific stations, click on the printer configuration option. A list of available printers should appear.

Step 7 - Select the printers you want to associate with each station. For example, you might assign a certain printer to the cook station and another to the packing station.

Step 8 - Next, explore the "Option Configuration". This will enable you to modify what information is displayed on each station's screen.

Step 9 - Identify the specific pieces of information you want to hide from certain stations, such as customer details and used deals. This ensures that the kitchen staff only sees relevant information for their tasks.

Step 10 - Make the necessary changes to the screen configuration by selecting or deselecting the relevant options. For instance, you can choose to hide customer details from the kitchen staff's view.

Step 11 - Additionally, if the default colour scheme is not clear or suitable for your needs, access the "Instructions Configuration" to alter the colour scheme that makes the information on the screen clearer or more visually appealing.

Step 13 - Now, proceed to set up the kitchen station profiles. This allows you to define different types of stations with specific functionalities.

Step 14 - Look for the section labelled "Kitchen Station Profiles" or similar terminology within the settings menu.

Step 15 - In the kitchen station profiles, you will typically find options to select different station types, such as cook, drinks, fry, and packing stations.

Step 16 - Choose the appropriate station profile for each station. For example, assign the cook station profile to the station responsible for preparing grilled food.

Step 17 - Remember that the packing station is usually designated as the final step in the process after the food, fries, and drinks have been prepared. Ensure the packing station is correctly assigned as the last step.

Step 18 - Lastly, check for an option to set the default station for the current screen. This is particularly useful if you have multiple stations available.

Step 19 - If more than one station is available, locate the default station setting and choose the appropriate station. In this case, the default may be set as the cook station.

Step 20 - Save the settings or apply the changes you have made to finalize the configuration of the stations and profiles.

By following these steps, you can easily configure the stations, customize their appearance and behaviour, and set up the desired kitchen station profiles for efficient order preparation and processing.
