Add Allergens to Your Online Ordering Menu
Updated this week

For restaurant owners who utilise the Flipdish online ordering platform, it's imperative to keep your customers informed about potential allergens in the dishes you serve. This not only ensures customer safety but also enhances the dining experience by allowing your customers to make informed decisions based on their dietary needs.

Follow the steps below to seamlessly add allergen information to your online menu:

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Login to the platform:

  2. Access the Menus:

    • Once logged in, look for the 'Menu Editor' option on the dashboard or side navigation bar and click on it.

  3. Choose the relevant Menu:

    • Scan through your list of menus and select the one to which you wish to add allergen details.

  4. Select the Menu Item:

    • Once inside the menu, you'll see a list of all the categories present in that menu.

    • Open the category that contains the Item you wish to add allergen details.

  5. Access options:

    • Now, find and click on the 'Additional Settings' button. This is usually located to the right of the item and is represented by 3 dots as shown in the below image:

    • Click "Edit" after selecting the 3 dots.

  6. Go to Additional Settings:

    • In the next window that appears, there should be an 'Additional Settings" option that can be clicked or if you are using a keyboard you can press number 4

    • Click the "Edit" option next to General in the top right.

  7. Choose applicable allergens:

    • Under the "Dietary" section you will see an option called "Contains Known Allergens". Tick the box next to this option in order to enable the drop-down box where you can now begin selecting your allergens

  8. Save your changes:

    • After making your selections, click the 'Apply Changes' button. This ensures that the changes are updated on your online ordering menu.

Please note that if you want to add more specific allergen information, for example, the type of gluten in the item please use the description section found under "Basic Information" to add this information.

Tips:

  • Regularly review and update allergen information, especially when there are changes to your menu or suppliers.

  • Consider training your staff on allergen awareness so they can answer any customer queries effectively.

  • Always be transparent and clear about potential cross-contamination risks in your kitchen.

Ensuring your customers are aware of allergen information is not only a matter of compliance but also a gesture that shows care for their well-being.
