Pair / Unpair WisePOS E Card Reader to Your Kiosk

Summary

This page covers how to pair a WisePOS E card payment reader to a Kiosk.

Pairing and Connection Info

This card reader is an internet-connected device, rather than a Bluetooth-paired device. It can be connected by wifi or by ethernet cable. A secure wifi network - our card readers must be connected to a password protected wifi network. Open networks are not compatible. Generally, this means it is a very stable and reliable connection type, but of course, this is depending on the stability and quality of the internet connection in the store.

  • Tap to pay

  • Insert card and enter pin

  • Swipe card

Requirements

  • Registered Flipdish Account

  • Flipdish Kiosk

  • Reliable and open Internet connection via ethernet or Wifi.

    • Minimum upload/download speed 10MB. Latency -60.

    • No firewalls with extra security protocols. If so, additional permissions and setup will be required and you should talk with your Internet Service Provider or the person responsible for managing your network.

  • The user must be in a supported region for the WisePOS E Device.

Access to this functionality

Only the Owner role in the Flipdish portal can access this feature.

Hardware Setup WisePOS E device

The WisePOS E requires charging or being connected to a power outlet. The device should be plugged into either a power socket or via a USB cable to the Kiosk. The box comes with a suitable USB cable, and any USB port on the Kiosk should provide it with power. Before starting, the device should be charged to a minimum of 50%. On the device, make sure to connect via wifi or ethernet.

Hardware Setup Kiosk

Make sure the Kiosk is powered on and connected to the internet. Make sure the Kiosk is assigned to your store.

Instructions to Pair the card reader to your Kiosk Store

Step 1

On a mobile or desktop device, log in to https://portal.flipdish.com/

Step 2

Navigate to > Sales Channels > Kiosk and select the kiosk you want to pair to the card reader. See the screenshot below.

Click on the Kiosk you wish to pair to the card reader.

Step 3

Press 'Card Reader Pairing Mode' button.

Step 4

On the Kiosk, you will see the following screen.

Press 'Connect' on the WisePOS E device on the right-hand side.

Press continue on this screen when prompted.

If prompted to allow location services, accept that permission. This is required to use the Payment Card Reader. It should already be accepted by default, but if not it may ask again.

Step 5

On this screen, it displays information about the two connection types. You must connect the WisePOS E device to your desired network type.

  • Both Wifi and Ethernet require reliable and open internet networks with no blocking security or firewall protocols in place. See the requirements above in this article.

  • If you are connecting via Ethernet, make sure your ethernet cable is connected to the internet-connected router in your store, not the Kiosk.

Press Continue.

Step 6

Unbox your Card Reader and do the following:

  • Charge it up to a minimum of 50%. You can either plug it into the wall or into a USB connection on the Kiosk.

  • Connect it to the Wifi / Ethernet connection in your store. Further detailed Instructions here.

  • Accept any dialogues to update the Software. You need a minimum of 50% to do this update.

  • Once that finishes, you will see a 'register this reader' screen as shown in the example in the image below on the card reader screen.

Step 7

On the Kiosk screen, enter the registration code from the card reader into the box below.

Tap on the box to trigger the keyboard.

Once you have entered the code, press the Green Check arrow on the right to confirm and proceed.

Then press 'Connect' to finish pairing the card reader.

Step 8

If the code is accepted, your card reader is now connected to your Kiosk! You will receive the screen below on your Kiosk.

On the Card reader you should see the idle screen below. This means it is paired and ready to accept payments.

You should always see the Visa symbol on the bottom right on the home screen of your Kiosk, which confirms your card reader is active and ready to take payments. See below.

Step 9 - Testing a Card Payment Order

We recommend doing a test order on your Kiosk and Card Reader to ensure everything is working as expected.

Error - Invalid registration code, please try again

If for some reason the pairing code has expired and will not work, then you will need to generate a new registration code on the WisePOS E Card Reader.

To do this, you can enter the settings screen on the WisePOS E device. To open the settings menu, swipe right from the left edge of the reader screen to reveal a Settings button. Tap the Settings button and enter the admin PIN 07139. From here, you can update your WiFi settings or generate a pairing code for device registration.

Unpair the WisePOS E Card Reader

To unpair the device follow the steps below.

Step 1

Navigate to Sales Channels, Kiosk.

Step 2

Select the Kiosk you want to unpair from. See below.

Step 3

Scroll down, then press 'Unregister Card Reader' under Payment methods.

Step 4

On the WisePOS E Card Reader, if you factory reset this will clear the connection to the Kiosk also. To do this, hold both of the side buttons for 15 seconds to trigger the factory reset dialogue. See image below.
