Troubleshoot: Receipt Printer

This guide is intended for your in-store staff member to help them guide and troubleshoot issues with printing customer receipts and kitchen dockets.

Requirements

  1. Sunmi Receipt Printer

  2. Sunmi POS Machine

General Troubleshooting

  1. Make sure the printer is powered on, has a paper roll and properly connected to the terminal via USB, Bluetooth or Network as the case may be.

  2. For Wi-Fi printers, ensure sufficient signal strength and connectivity where the printer is physically located as Wi-Fi printers are notorious for failing under weak/varying signals.

Customer Receipt Troubleshooting

  1. Make sure the target printer is duly selected as the Receipt Printer in POS. (refer to the article to Sunmi Printer Setup).

  2. Open an existing sale and press the Print button

  3. Customer receipt should be printed.

If the above step doesn't print the customer receipt please contact Flipdish support as mentioned below.

KOT Printer Troubleshooting

  1. Open an existing sale and long press the print button.

  2. This should open the option to print customer receipt or kitchen docket.

  3. Press the kitchen docket button.

  4. This should print the kitchen dockets.

  5. If the kitchen docket is not printed, follow the below steps.

  6. Make sure that the correct Kitchen Station Profile is associated with the KOT printer.

  7. If KOT is not printing some sale Items, in your POS portal, check and make sure that the respective menu items have been assigned KDS tags correctly.

Failure Symptoms

Possible Causes

Solutions

Power indicator is not on

The printer is not powered on

Connect the printer to power

The printer power button is not turned on

Turn on the printer power button

Power cord damage

Replace the power cord

Circuit board damage

Contact dealer or manufacturer

Abnormality indicator is on

The printing paper is out of use

Install new paper roll

Abnormality indicator is on; Voice broadcast:
Printer voltage is too high, please check
Printer voltage is too low, please check

Abnormal input voltage

Turn off the printer and check the input voltage

Abnormality indicator flashes

Print head overheating

Wait until the print head cools to recover

Paper blocked

Open the upper cover, check the paper outlet and remove the blocked paper.

The network indicator is not on

Device disconnected from the server

Double-click the pairing button to print the network self-inspection page and check according to the self-inspection report.

The printed content is not clear or tainted.

Print head damaged

Replace printer core.

Dirty print head or paper feed stick

Clean print head or paper feed stick.

Print out a blank page

Printing paper consumables are reversed.

Refer to the prompt to place consumables.

Paper blocked

Check whether the paper roll is loaded correctly.
