Set Up K2 Mini 15'' Kiosk with Card Reader (EU/UK)

Learn how to set up your K2 Mini Kiosk by reading the guide below.

Unboxing

Step 1:

  • Inspect the box and contents for any damage.

  • Please escalate to the Flipdish team ([email protected]) if there is any damage to the device or the box itself after it has arrived.

Step 2:

Each K2 Mini Kiosk should come with the following parts:

  • K2 Mini Kiosk with Flipdish branding.

  • Correct power plug for your country.

  • Transformer.

  • 80mm Thermal printing paper.

  • Card reader - WisePad 3 or WisePOS E for EU / UK regions.

  • Charger for the card reader.

  • Mount for the card reader.

    • Pole Stack & Grip Plate

  • Flipdish Branded QR code cards

  • Order here sign

  • Velcro pads

Examples below of an unpack of a K2 Mini Kiosk with WisePOS E Card Reader Accessories.

Step 3:

  • Remove all parts from the box and check the screen to make sure no damage before set up begins.

  • There must be Flipdish branded stickers on both sides of the K2 Mini Kiosk. Please escalate to the Flipdish team ([email protected]) if this branding is not in place.

Step 4:

  • Open the panel on the rear of the K2 Mini Kiosk.

  • Connect the power cable to the appropriate port at the back of the Kiosk.

  • Connect an ethernet cable to the appropriate port.

    • This is recommended for the best internet connectivity.

  • When the device is plugged in please press and hold the power button to turn on the device.

  • The power button is on the side of the device.

Step 5:

  • The screen will power on.

  • Press the start setup button.

Step 6:

  • Select language.

  • Press Next


Step 7:

  • Select Country and Timezone.

  • Press Next

Step 8:

  • For this step, you will need your internet network information.

Network Requirements

  • Make sure your internet network meets the minimum requirements to operate Flipdish services on Kiosks.

    • Upload and download speed 1MB

    • Latency less than -100.

    • No firewalls / special security protocols and whitelists blocking access to the network

Wired Ethernet Cable Option (Recommended for more stable connection)

  • Make sure your ethernet cable is connected to the back of your Kiosk and to an internet-connected router in your building.

  • On the menu on the kiosk, select Ethernet from the tab at the top.

  • Enter your network details.

  • In most cases, the automatic IP configuration is the best option.

  • For cases where a company or store location has special security with specific IP addresses and security protocols setup, you may need to select manual configuration and enter more settings such as IP address and security passwords. Discuss this with your network administrator.

WIFI Option

  • Ensure you have the correct WIFI name and password for the desired network.

  • Select the WIFI tab on the Kiosk Menu.

  • Select your WIFI network from the list of networks found.

  • Enter your password and press Connect.

Step 9:

  • On the screen below, press the “Start Config” button on the screen

  • Then wait for the device to download the required apps.

Step 10:

  • The system will download all apps and updates.

  • When it is finished, the screen below will appear.

  • Press Enter The System button.

Step 11:

  • The kiosk will prompt you to load the paper into the printer.

  • You can either load the paper now or press “OK” and load the paper later.

Step 12:

  • To load the paper, open the door on the front of the Kiosk.

The printer can take 58mm or 80mm paper.

Connecting your Kiosk to the Flipdish Portal

Before you connect your Kiosk to a store, there are some requirements and configurations required.

Requirements & Configuration Setup

  1. Register and set up a Flipdish account on portal.flipdish.com

  2. Set up at least one store, to connect your Kiosk to.

  3. Add a valid verified bank account and link that to your Kiosk store.

  4. Add a valid menu to that store for your Kiosk.

  5. Configure opening hours and visibility of the Kiosk store.

  6. Customize the images and logos for your Kiosk on the portal.

  7. Set your location in the store to match your Kiosk location.

  8. Set your collection and pickup hours

  9. Set the visibility of the Kiosk store, if you already have a Flipdish App or Online Ordering setup.

  10. Enable Cash and Pay at the Counter in-store settings if desired.

  11. Enable Dine in / Take Out option as desired.

  12. Set Collection / Pickup to on for that store.

Once you have your store and Flipdish account set up, then follow these steps.

Step 1:

  • On a laptop, computer or mobile device, go to the portal.flipdish.com

  • Login with your account details.

Step 2:

  • Select the Sales Channels on the left of the screen.

  • A sub-menu will drop down.

  • Select Kiosks.

  • Select Add Kiosk in the bottom right corner.

Step 3:

  • Name your Kiosk. Ideally something identifiable, such as ""Kiosk 1 in Pizza Cafe"" so you can identify it later.

  • Select the store you would like it to be associated to

  • Enter the pin that is currently displaying on the Kiosk Screen

  • Click Add Kiosk.


Your kiosk and store are now connected!

Mounting the card reader

Depending on the card reader and mount type you purchased, there are different steps to mount the card reader.

Mounting the WisePad 3 Card Reader

Below is an example of a K2 Mini Kiosk setup with a Wisepad 3 Card Reader using a pole stack surface mount.

Requirements

Ensure the following parts are present:

  • Wisepad 3 Card reader

  • Card reader mount and grip plate for Wisepad 3.

  • 2 Velcro pads

Step 1:

  • Stick one of the velcro pads to the bottom of the holder.

  • Alternatively, you may screw the mount into the tabletop surface if preferred.

Step 2:

  • Stick the other to the surface where you wish to place the card reader.

Step 3:

  • Put the card reader into the grip plate and mount it on the mounting pole.

  • The result should look something like the image below.

Step 4:

  • Attach the charging cable to the card reader.

  • Attach the other end of the USB cable to the K2 Mini Kiosk, looping into the back for more security, or onto the side USB port of the K2 Mini device.

Connecting the Wisepad 3 card reader to the Kiosk via the Flipdish Portal

Step 1:

  • Place the card reader into the mount provided and plug the charging cable into the card reader.

  • Once the charging cable is plugged into the card reader please plug the other end of the charging cable into the kiosk in the USB port on the side or in the rear behind the panel.

Step 2:

  • Turn on the kiosk by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds.

  • Turn on the card reader by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds.

Step 3:

  • Select the sales channel on the left of the screen.

  • A sub-menu will drop down.

  • Select Kiosks.

  • Select the Kiosk you want to connect the card reader too.

  • Scroll down until you see Card Reader Pairing Mode.

  • Select this option

Step 4:

  • Once the card reader pairing mode has been selected.

  • You will then be prompted to enable Bluetooth on your kiosk device.

  • Select "Ok"

Step 5:

  • Once Bluetooth has been enabled please move to the kiosk.

  • The kiosk will then prompt you to connect the card reader.


Step 6:

  • Once you have pressed ""connect device"" a new screen will appear.

  • This screen will allow you to select the card reader you wish to connect to the kiosk.

  • Please match the serial number on the screen with the serial number on the back of the card reader you want to connect.

Step 7:

  • Once the correct serial number has been selected.

  • “Successfully connected” will appear on the screen.

  • Master Card and Visa logos will appear on the home screen

  • Please then close down this prompt and proceed with a test payment.

  • After a successful test payment, you will be fully set up.

Mounting the WisePOS E Card Reader

The WisePOS E-card reader comes with two types of mount options. See below.

Type 1 - Stack pole and grip mount

Type 2 - WisePOS E cradle tabletop mount

  • This cradle mount is designed to sit on a counter surface.

  • If you plug in the USB cable to the bottom of the device and back to the Kiosk, you can charge.

  • All payment methods, tap to pay, insert card and swipe are possible while the device is in the cradle.

  • In addition, the cradle comes with an ethernet port on the underside, for the best internet connectivity instead of WIFI. See the image below.
