Learn about our Sign in upgrades
Updated over 3 months ago

Why?

  • We want to give our customers the ability to sign in once and navigate between all Flipdish Systems without having to re-enter credentials. These changes are a step towards that.

  • We want to upgrade the security of our sign in process, to give greater protection to our customers and their data.

  • We want to enable the introduction of new sign in features now, and in the future. For example, sign in with Google

What Has Changed?

New Sign In Page 🆕

Customers will be shown a new sign in page. This sign in page allows users to sign in with a username + password and showing terms and conditions as it did previously. It also has some new features such as Google Sign In, Bot Detection and Multi Factor Authentication.

ReCaptcha

We have introduced Google ReCaptcha, a google offering which protects systems from fraud and bots. This gives additional security to our customers by helping us block malicious bots that attempt to access our customers accounts.

Multi-Factor Authentication

We have introduced Multi-Factor Authentication, which helps protect our customers' accounts should their email or password be compromised. Multi-factor authentication is required while signing in to systems to enhance security by requiring multiple forms of verification, making unauthorised access of customer accounts and data significantly more difficult.

Google Sign In

We have introduced Google Single Sign On. This reduces the burden of sign in for our customers, by enabling them to sign in with their Google account. The email address used for Google Single Sign On must match the email address the customer has registered in the Flipdish system.

Password Policy

We have improved our password policy to ensure that customers are forced to set secure passwords that are not common or guessable. For example, “Password” is not a secure password, and as such the improved password policy will prevent our customers from using this password.

No Longer Supporting Passwordless Access

Previously, some of our customers used a pin code to sign in to the portal. This pin was sent to their email address when trying to sign in to the portal. Unfortunately, this did not offer Flipdish or our clients sufficient levels of security and as part of our sign in/sign-up upgrades this sign in method will no longer be possible.

What do I need to do?

Existing Customers

As a result of the significant security upgrades, existing users will either need to do one of the following options to regain access to their account:

  • Reset their password using the “Forgot Password” Button.

  • Sign in via the “Continue with Google” button. For this option to be viable, the email of the google account and the user’s Flipdish account need to be the same.

Once the user has reset their password once, they can continue signing in with their new password as normal.

Existing customers will also need to set up multi factor authentication via one of the available options. Users will be prompted to set this up automatically when they next sign in.

New Customers

New Customers can begin the self sign up flow by clicking “Sign up”. They can also choose to sign up by clicking “Continue with Google” and we will recognize they are new user. After the user has created an account via either of these methods, they will begin the onboarding flow in the portal where the user will enter store details, store location etc.
